Gemstone Care
Gemstones have unique properties and require varying levels of care. Some are particularly susceptible to chemicals and temperature changes.
The basic care instructions listed below apply to most colored gemstones.
Cleaning
Clean your gemstone pieces with a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner that is safe to use with your particular stone. To remove any remaining residue, use a soft cloth.
Storing
Gemstones are harder than platinum, gold or silver, and can scratch other jewelry pieces. Store your gemstone jewelry separately, in a lined box or a cloth bag.
Wear
Some gemstones, such as ruby and sapphire, are almost as hard as a diamond. However, even the most durable gems are not invincible and can still be dented, scratched, or damaged by harsh chemicals.
