Platinum
Platinum is the strongest precious metal used in jewelry making, and it is often paired with diamonds. It has a white sheen that highlights the brilliance of a diamond, while holding it firmly in a setting.
Due to exceptional durability, platinum does not wear away. Instead, over time, it develops a satin sheen called patina, which creates a unique look that many people find appealing.
Most of our platinum jewelry is 95 percent platinum with 5 percent of other alloys such as iridium, palladium or ruthenium. For guaranteed quality in platinum, look for the marks 950 Plat or Plat.
Care and maintenance • Patina can be polished away by a jeweler, to restore the original shine.
• For at-home maintenance, platinum jewelry can be buffed with a cloth or soaked in warm soap water and gently cleaned with a soft brush.
