Yin and Yang, also known as the Tai Chi or Taiqi symbol, explains how opposite or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the world. They coexist and give rise to each other in turn reminding us that opposites exist only in relation to each other. Yin represents negative or feminine and Yang represents positive or masculine forces. One is not better than the other and both are equally important.
The few most prominent examples of such dualities are: female and male, dark and light or cold and hot.
Yin Yang or Taijitu are dependent opposing forces that flow in a natural cycle always seeking balance. As a part of the TAO (The Way), they are two aspects of the same reality that become each other in the constant flow of the universe. They exist in everything around and in us and are the foundation of life as nothing can exist by itself.
The ideal and most desirable is the perfect balance of both and any extremes should be avoided.
